Durasafe® Eco – Better for the Environment

Durasafe®, from Swiss substrate producer Landqart, is a composite material that consists of two outer layers of security paper, fused together with a central core of transparent polymer. The strength of the polymer core combines with the benefits of well-known paper security features to offer a product that is ‘the best of both worlds’.

Landqart has been making paper for 150 years, and along with Durasafe, offers cylinder mould made paper for banknotes and passports. Durasafe was first launched in 2010, made its debut in Morocco in 2012, and is now being used in 11 countries for 23 denominations.

Richard Perera, Director of Marketing Services, presented the latest version – Durasafe Eco – at the Global Currency Forum in Antalya in April, followed by HSP Latin America in Guatemala in early June, as a way to reduce the environmental impact of the substrate on the cash cycle.
